Bullying Map
Prototype — Bullying Map
The challenge
School violence and bullying generate severe impacts on the development of children and adolescents. Despite the urgency of the issue, existing initiatives operated in a fragmented manner and did not speak directly to young people’s everyday reality. What needed to be proven was whether a technological and playful approach could break through the engagement barrier — being effective at educating and initiating consistent behavioral change among victims, aggressors and bystanders.
What was built
To test this hypothesis, Pencil Labs developed the Bullying Map prototype. The solution consisted of creating a simple digital game focused on introducing the topic in a practical and meaningful way within the school environment. The central objective of this prototype was not to deliver a robust final product, but to validate the project’s need — translating sensitive content into accessible language and proving the potential of serious games as an awareness tool.

Measured impact
The prototype successfully fulfilled its validation role. The experience demonstrated that the use of gamification facilitates the approach to complex and sensitive topics in the school environment, generating genuine interest and engagement among students. By proving the effectiveness of the methodology, the prototype paved the way for the investment and development of the complete Bullying Map ecosystem, which would go on to include additional tools and large-scale actions.
